Local Hockey
Formed in 1993, the Polar Kings Athletic Club was built on a commitment to developing young, talented, and dedicated hockey players across rural Alberta. With a focus on growth, discipline, and competitive play, the organization was created to give athletes the opportunity to compete at a higher caliber while continuing to build strong fundamentals and character both on and off the ice.
Proudly part of the Wainwright Minor Hockey Association, the Polar Kings call the Peace Memorial Multiplex in Wainwright, Alberta home. With strong community support and a long-standing tradition of development, the club continues to be a key part of the local hockey landscape.

Age Groups
Our Team Divisions
Hockey team age groups are determined if the child is under the chosen age as of December 31 of the current season. This rule ensures consistency across all teams and leagues, so players are grouped with peers of similar ages throughout the entire hockey season.

Yes, your child can join the Polar King Team! We hold Summer Camps, Conditioning Camps, and Try-outs each season to make sure we put together the best Polar King Teams!
Practices and Home games will be held at our Home Arena, the Wainwright Peace Memorial Multiplex. Away games will be held throughout Alberta at our opposing teams arenas.
Equipment required to play with the Polar Kings Team can include hockey stick, hockey skates, skate guards, hockey helmet, hockey shoulder pads, hockey elbow pads, hockey gloves, hockey pants, neck guard, mouth guard (U11 and up), hockey jock/jill protective cup, hockey shin guards, hockey socks, hockey bag (large duffel), and a water bottle.
